Rev. Herb Ireland At the age of 16, the Living Lord transformed me from a rebellious sinner into a son of God through the ministry of Pastor Hal Bonner in the San Anselmo, CA Church of the Nazarene. Through Pastor Bonner's influence, I enrolled in Pasadena College where I earned my B.A. and M.A. degrees. During this time, my call into pastoral ministry was confirmed and I received my MDiv degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary.

I married Carolyn Copelin in 1967, daughter of missionaries Roy and Wanda Copelin. I was ordained an elder in the Church of the Nazarene in 1972. In 1999, I received my Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.

During my 35 years of pastoral ministry, I pastored four churches: Boise Hillview (ID) 1969-1973; Port Orchard (WA) 1973-1982; Vacaville (CA) 1982-1987; and Sparks First (NV) 1987-2004. During the Sparks pastorate, our congregation and the district planted the Sparks Faith Family Fellowship church.

Since retirement in 2004, I have been involved in assisting in an African-American Nazarene church in downtown Chicago, teaching religion courses as an adjuct professor for Olivet Nazarene University School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, Associate Chaplain for the same school, and Mission Coach for Department of World Missions.
